“Between the Mounds” is an original oil painting of the St. Croix River. I painted this piece en plein air while standing between the Native American burial mounds located in Prospect Park, Hudson, WI. What caught my eye about this scene was how the light was catching the unusually shaped evergreen tree that stuck up determinedly from the bluff. The painting also shows a small corner of the marina and part of the island in the middle of the river. The trees in the background are actually located in Minnesota.
