Floating is an original oil painting of Frontenac Pond. Frontenac, MN is a little town that time forgot. It’s snuggled in the cliffs of the Mississippi River Valley, just south of Red Wing, MN. There are only two roads in and out of this adorable little berg. Frontenac Pond tangents one of these roads. Locals love to put in a canoe or small boat to fish the small pond. When the boats leave the dock, they need to carve a path through the flowering lilypads floating on the surface. This is a large scale studio painting that was created from a plein air study that I painted on location. If Monet were to visit Minnesota, I’m sure he would love this place!
